Teams - Guide for Parents to Sign into Teams at Home

Step 1: Install Microsoft Teams

  • On a Computer (Windows or Mac):

    1. Open a web browser and go to www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-teams/download-app.
    2. Click Download for Desktop.
    3. Once downloaded, open the installation file and follow the on-screen instructions to install.
  • On a Mobile Device (iOS or Android):

    1. Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
    2. Search for Microsoft Teams.
    3. Tap Install or Get to download and install the app.

Step 2: Open Microsoft Teams

  • On a Computer:
    1. After installation, open the Microsoft Teams app from your desktop or Start menu.
  • On a Mobile Device:
    1. Open the Microsoft Teams app from your home screen or app drawer.

Step 3: Log In

  1. Enter Your Child’s School Email Address:

    • On the Teams login screen, enter the email address provided by the school. This typically ends with the school domain (e.g., studentname@schoolname.edu).
    • Click Next.
  2. Enter the Password:

    • Type in the password provided by the school. If you do not have the password, please contact the school for assistance.
    • Click Sign In.
  3. Complete Multi-Factor Authentication (if required):

    • If the school uses two-step verification, follow the instructions to verify the login via a text message, phone call, or authentication app.

Step 4: Access Teams

Once logged in, your child will see their Teams dashboard. This will show:

  • Classes or Teams your child has been added to.
  • Assignments, Meetings, and any messages or announcements from teachers.

Step 5: Troubleshooting

  • If you have any issues logging in, try the following:
    • Double-check the email address and password.
    • Ensure your internet connection is stable.
    • Restart the Teams app and try again.
    • Contact the school’s IT support if the problem persists.

Tips:

  • For easier access in the future, parents can bookmark https://teams.microsoft.com in their browser.
  • Encourage your child to use the Calendar in Teams to keep track of scheduled meetings or classes.
