Use this document if your school is moving to the cloud in a project.
When we move schools to the cloud, we migrate data from certain locations into the cloud for all staff. It's important that your files are securely stored on either the server or uploaded to OneDrive or Google Drive.
How to check if your documents will migrate
If you don't use OneDrive or Google Drive OR you only have some in Google Drive or OneDrive- then your documents should be saved onto the server.
You can check if your documents are on the server by the following methods:
- Log onto a device different to your staff laptop - if you can access the file or folder on the different device, then your file is on the server
- You can verify this, by going to This PC and checking your icons are similar to the below - double click (note the different icon and drive letters - you should not find your documents on Local Disks.
Your device may also work at home, and Sync Files when you are in school if this is the case, then you must ensure documents are synced before giving us your device. Failure to do this will result in lost data.
If your documents are saved onto the Local Disk C - or your don't see similar icons to the above, call our helpdesk for advice before you provide us with your device, as data may be lost.
Checking your documents are in OneDrive or Google Drive
If you think your documents are in OneDrive or Google Drive, you can easily check this:
- Open your internet browser and visit:
- https://m365.cloud.microsoft/onedrive/ for OneDrive
- https://drive.google.com/drive/ for Google Drive
- Ensure you can navigate, and open your documents via the web browser. If you can, they are uploaded.
If you can't see your files or folders within OneDrive or Google Drive, try to upload them again, or contact our helpdesk for support.
