Tips - Connect your laptop to your phone's mobile hotspot or tethering

This article explains how to start a mobile hotspot on your phone and connect your laptop or other device to it so you can use your phone's internet.

Android


1. On your phone, navigate to Settings



2. Press on Connections 



3. Press on Mobile Hotspot and Tethering




4. Before pressing the toggle switch on the right, Press on the words 'Mobile Hotspot' to bring up the settings: 



5. Give your 'Network name' a name you'll recognise when you want to connect to it from your laptop, and set a Password too



6. Now you can go back and toggle the Mobile Hotspot On: 



7. Now onto your laptop, press the Wifi symbol in the bottom right of your desktop system tray: 



8. You may see your Wifi networks immediately, else, if it may appear such as this where you'll need to press the arrow next to your network to connect: 



9. You will now see your mobile network you created from your phone on your laptop! Click on the name of your phone's network and then enter the password you set.
